A wonderfully bizarre example of late-1980s bootleg toy creativity, this ACTION HERO carded two-pack combines explosive military packaging artwork with futuristic action figures that appear inspired by the science-fiction toy trends of the era.
The dramatic card art features a blond commando armed with a rocket launcher charging through a battlefield of tanks, aircraft and explosions, clearly designed to capture the excitement of the VHS action movie boom. However, the figures inside tell a completely different story.
Instead of modern soldiers, the blister contains two futuristic commandos with science-fiction styling, including armored uniforms, metallic details, space-age equipment and distinctive character designs.
